Tasks: problem + request

I have just transferred the software and the file to my new laptop. I had to reset all my options, which I suppose is only natural, but have come to a problem in tasks.

I had an enormous list of finished tasks plus a dozen future tasks. I usually prefer to hide all the finished tasks but, every time I tried to toggle that function, all my tasks simply disappeared, both finished and unfinished, past and future. I have since erased all the finished tasks, so now, when I toggle the button to hide finished tasks, my future, unfinished tasks disappear. I have also added new tasks, and those behave normally.

At the same time, I have got a request: is there any way that, when you toggle 'hide finished tasks', there could be an option 'except today's tasks'? It really helps me to be able to look at all the crossed out tasks, instead of seeing a list of ominous 'to do'. However, the option to 'not hide' means that (I've got the tasks going from the past down to the future) every time I add a new task, I'll find myself at the beginning of the task list, all the way back in the past. That's not much of a problem now, since I've erased all past tasks (which are safely kept in a copy), but I'd rather not have to do that regularly.

Can you please post (or send an e-mail to info (at) psunrise (dot) com) with a screenshot showing one of those disappearing tasks' window, so that I could check what fields are set and reproduce this here?

I'm afraid I'm not connected to the Internet often so I may take some time reacting to your posts. Sorry about that.

Anyway, I've taken 2 screenshots of old tasks that I have for the far-off future...

And I've taken a screenshot of a task I set just yesterday (and which also disappears if I toggle the 'hide done' button)...

I've just realised something:

Every time I try toggling on the button, the future tasks disappear. The only way to make them visible again is to swith off the software and switch it back on. However, before doing all the switching off-on routine, I always untoggled the button.

Today, by sheer accident, I did the routine without untoggling the button, So when the software came back on, I had all my future, undone tasks correctly visible while all the done tasks were correctly invisible. Unfortunately, if I decide to untoggle the button, all of the past and future tasks disappear, and I'm left with today's done and undone tasks visible.

Thanks for the screenshots. I wonder if this is happening because you don't have a Start date for the tasks. I'll need to test this and see how it goes.

Hi, Dennis. Just to let you know that, the moment I saw your 'wondering' I jumped to trying it. I only added a start date to one task (due for 'tomorrow'), and I'm sorry to say it didn't work.

This weekend I'm going to try and use the file on my old laptop to see if it has the same problem and, if not, I'll see if there's any type of customising different between the two. (Good thing I haven't got rid of the old one yet.)

Sorry for the long delay - it has been a particularly difficult month.

In the meantime, I've discovered the problem: and it was none at all. I had accidentally toggled the function "show tasks ending on selected dates". I had never even noticed it existed! I feel quite silly for having us both waste so much time over nothing.

Anyway, thank you for being so helfpful.

However, I'd like to know if it's possible to add to the button 'hide finished tasks', an exception to 'today's tasks'. I sometimes tick the wrong task, and I'd like to be able to correct the error without having to untoggle the button, search for the task, and toggle it again.
